In order to ensure high standards of education for its students, the department has constantly upgraded itself by adding well-equipped and fully furnished laboratories to supplement the theory courses.     The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, LR Institutes of Engineering & Technology is imparting high quality education to the budding engineers with the support of well qualified & experienced faculty. We are living in an age of information & Technology. Electronics is the foundation of Information and Computer Age. The giant strides that we have made in the areas of communications and computers are possible only because of the great successes that we have achieved in the field of Electronics. It is sometimes unbelievable, how many electronic gadgets we are carrying these days with us like Digital Wrist Watch, Calculator, Cell-Phone and Digital Diary etc. Electronics & Communication Engineering Department, understands the importance of preparing engineering students in this competitive world.


    To enhance students conceptual theoretical and practical understanding the ECE Department focuses on the following objectives:

    • To provide the students with a flexible platform in the laboratories that scales from software to hardware.
    • To provide students with a completely interactive environment. Guidance and counseling of the students right from the beginning.
    • Offering soft skills training to the students with an aim to improve their personality in all aspects.
    • Conducting regular Seminars, Works-shops and Lectures by evident experts from various renowned institutes.

    • The graduates of the program will have necessary background in the field of Electronics and communication engineering to deal with engineering problems & pursue PG/research program to excel as engineering professional in industries and society at large.
    • The graduates of the program will have ability towards innovation and entrepreneurship that caters to the need of the industries and society at large.
    • The graduates of the program will have an attitude to apply technical knowledge to solve real life problems and develop the competent work force to carry out consultancy services to the industries and service providers.
    • The graduates of the program will have the qualities like creativity, leadership, team-work skills, and professional ethics, thus contributing towards the growth and development of the society and to inculcate an attitude towards lifelong learning process.

    PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

    Graduates of Computer Science Engineering Programme will have the ability
    • Graduates will demonstrate the knowledge of Analog and Digital circuits, Signal Processing and System Engineering, Analog and Digital Communication Systems, Microprocessors and Embedded systems, etc., besides basic sciences, i.e., Applied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for solution of engineering / technological problems.
    • Graduates will demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate and solve problems related to Electronics and Communication Technology(E & CT).
    • Graduates will be able to design and implement electronic systems (both analog and digital) requiring combined design of hardware and software.
    • Graduates will investigate and analyze complex electronics and communication related process and design solutions in terms of hardware and software.
    • Graduates will demonstrate ability to fully utilize the modern instruments, software tools for evaluation of existing systems and to improve such systems as per changing requirements.
    • Graduates will have ability to improve the functioning of E & CT systems being used in diverse scenarios considering the health and safety of the people.
    • Graduates will be able to understand the impact of E & CT project implementation/ commissioning with respect to societal and sustainability aspects.
    • Graduates will be able to realize their professional responsibilities following the ethical values.
    • Graduates will be able to demonstrate leadership skills and be able to work in team environment to achieve professional and organizational goals, facilitate growth of others and obtain substantive results.
    • Graduates are expected to be well articulate to present their professional expertise for problem solving in the field of E & CT both orally and in written forms.

    • Graduates will demonstrate continuous learning temperament (life-long learning) to tackle the ever evolving requirements of the E & CT field.
  • Learning process and methodology

    Industrial Training(2 months)

    • The students spend their entire semester (6th) in an industry of relevance for their 2 months industrial training.
    • The student is permitted to join the training only if it is approved by the department.
    • During the course of the training, faculty visits the industry to monitor the performance and conduct of the students working as trainees.
    • Students submit a report on the conduct of training and also give a seminar/presentation in the class.
    • Training awards are based on performance in training, feedback report of the faculty, training manager, training report, mid semester report, daily diary, viva voce conducted by external examiner besides the value addition in students to increase their professional competence.

    Project Work

    • All the final year students are required to undergo a major project in their final academic semester.
    • Both the project works are held under the supervision of senior faculty members.
    • The project may be sponsored or facilitated by the industry.

    Interaction with the Industry

    We believe that engineering education is incomplete without the support and collaboration of the industry. For this purpose, the department has developed strong linkages with the industry and renowned academic institutions. The interfacing with the industry helps the students in the following areas:
    • Industrial visits- wherein the students get an opportunity to see the real application of engineering.
    • Expert lectures- The experts from various fields share their expertise and knowledge with the faculty and the students.
    • Workshops on specific technologies- The students get a hand on experience in these workshops
    • Conferences & Symposiums- The students get an opportunity to explore their research potential
    • Institutional & Industrial Training- Interfacing with the industry opens up multidimensional avenues for the students

    For all the aforesaid purposes, students are actively involved. The students have been identified as student coordinators who are working together in order to meet these objectives. Besides, these activities also inculcates managerial & leadership qualities in the students. The student coordinators are well guided and supported by two faculty members of the department who have been identified as industrial coordinators.

  • Placements

    The department supports and coordinates with the Centralized Training & Placement Cell of CT group for all placement related activities viz. interview preparation, inviting the companies for the placement drives and conduct of the same.

    For all the aforesaid purposes, students are actively involved. The students have been identified as student coordinators who are working together in order to meet these objectives. Besides, these activities also inculcates managerial & leadership qualities in the students. The student coordinators are well guided and supported by two faculty members of the department who have been identified as industrial coordinators.

    Simulation Lab

    This lab serves for practical course like Digital Signal Processing Lab, VHDL Lab, Electronics Design Lab, Data Structure Lab etc. This lab is equipped with 20 pentium4 machine with electronics professional & other software like MATLAB & its Tool Boxes, Active HDL, Xilinx, TINA and Turbo C etc. for simulation purpose. Internet facilities are also available.

    Communication Lab

    This lab serves for practical course like AC Lab, DC Lab, DDC Lab, MW Lab, Optical Fiber Lab etc. This lab is equipped with CRO, Function generators & various kits for implementing and understanding Communication circuits. All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.

    This lab serves for practical course like MP Lab, DE Lab etc. This lab is equipped with CRO, Function generators & various kits for implementing and understanding Microprocessors and Digital circuits. All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.

    Analog Electronics Lab

    This lab serves for practical course like, SDC Lab, AE, and IE Lab etc. This lab is equipped with CRO, Function generators & various kits for implementing and understanding electronics circuits. All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.

    Project Lab

    This lab serves for practical course like LIC Lab, ED Lab, AV Lab, Project Lab etc. This lab is equipped with CRO, Function generators & various consumable materials for implementing and designing electronics projects .All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed. It has facilitates for implementing various B. Tech projects.

    Basic Electronics lab

    This lab serves for practical course of 1st year Students. This lab is equipped with Digital MultiMeter & Breadboard Trainer kit, CRO, Function generators & various consumable materials for implementing and designing electronics ckts .All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.

    Digital Electronics lab

    This lab serves for practical course like DE Lab and EMMI lab etc. This lab is equipped with digital IC’s, Breadboard Trainer kits, L.D.R kit, Photoelectric Pickup kit, Pressure Cell Kit, Strain Gauge kit & various kits for implementing and understanding Digital circuits. All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.
